Use Claude to create your invoices with Piku

The Piku teamUpdated   ·  3 min read

You finish the work. Then comes the part nobody enjoys: finding the client's details, copying prices, adding up lines, checking the dates.

With Claude connected to Piku, you type one sentence. Claude does the rest as a Draft. You check it and say yes.

In short
  • Connect Claude to Piku once, in about a minute.
  • Ask in your own words: "Bill Halo Audio for this quarter."
  • Claude reads your Deals and your Rate Card.
  • It prepares a Draft quote or invoice, with every line and total.
  • You check it. Nothing reaches the client until you say yes.

Connect Claude to Piku

You need your own Claude account and a Piku account. Piku in Claude comes with your Piku plan.

On claude.ai:

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Piku and paste this address: https://usepiku.com/mcp
  4. Choose Continue, then Connect.
  5. Sign in to Piku and choose Allow.

In Claude Code, run this once in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http piku https://usepiku.com/mcp

Then ask Claude to bill a client. It asks you to sign in to Piku the first time.

When you sign in, Piku shows exactly what Claude may do. You can untick sending to keep Claude to Drafts only.

Ask Claude to bill a client

Write the way you would brief an assistant. Name the client and the work. Claude finds the rest.

What Claude does next:

  • Reads your Deals, so it knows the client, what you agreed and what is already billed.
  • Reads your Rate Card, so the prices are yours, not guesses.
  • Prepares a Draft: a quote or an invoice, with every line, each option and the total.
  • Shows you the Draft in the chat and asks if it should send it.

The Draft also sits in Deals on Piku, so you can open it there and change anything first.

You check it, then say yes

A Draft is not sent. It has no invoice number yet, and the client sees nothing.

You have two ways to send it:

  • In the chat: read the Draft and tell Claude "yes, send it".
  • In Piku: open the Draft in Deals and press Send.

A quote goes out with its accept link. An invoice is numbered when it is sent and goes out with its pay link. Receipts and reminders follow on their own.

If something is off, say so: "Make the Stories five, not six." Claude updates the Draft and shows it again.

What Claude can and can never do

Claude prepares. You decide.

Claude can
  • read your Deals, quotes and invoices;
  • read your Rate Card;
  • prepare quotes and invoices as Drafts;
  • send a Draft, only after your yes.
Claude can never
  • accept a quote;
  • mark an invoice paid;
  • change or stop a Schedule;
  • move money.

Claude never sees your wallet, your payout details or your password. You can disconnect it any time in Settings, then Agents.

Things you can ask

  • "Bill Halo Audio for this quarter's content, and offer Annual too."
  • "Invoice Nora for the two Reels from last week, due in 14 days."
  • "Quote Mia for a brand photoshoot from my Rate Card, half now and half on delivery."
  • "Which of my invoices are overdue?"
  • "Draft an invoice for the Story set in the Halo Audio Deal, in USD."
  • "Turn the Deal with Lena into a quote with a monthly option."

Asking for half up front? Our guide on how to ask for a deposit has the wording.

A worked example

You type:

Bill Halo Audio for this quarter's content, and offer Annual too.

Claude reads the Halo Audio Deal and your Rates, then shows this Draft quote:

LineQuantityAmount
Instagram Reel, 60 seconds3 Reels at USD 400USD 1,200
Story set, 3 frames6 sets at USD 120USD 720
Usage rights, paid ads1 licence at USD 300USD 300
Quarterly totalUSD 2,220
Example quote, for illustration only.

The client gets two options on the same quote:

  • Quarterly: USD 2,220, every 3 months.
  • Annual: the same work for the year, billed every 12 months.

Claude asks: "Send it? Halo Audio picks Quarterly or Annual, then accepts."

You say yes. The quote goes out with its own number and accept link. Halo Audio picks an option and accepts. From then on, Piku sends each invoice on its Schedule, and you never retype a line.

Questions

Can Claude send an invoice without asking me?

No. Claude prepares a Draft and shows it to you. It is sent only after you say yes in the chat, or when you press Send in Deals yourself. You can also untick sending when you connect, so Claude only ever makes Drafts.

What can Claude see on Piku?

Your Deals, your quotes and invoices, and your Rate Card. Never your wallet, your payout details or your password.

Can Claude mark an invoice paid or change a Schedule?

Never. Claude cannot accept a quote, mark an invoice paid, change or stop a Schedule, or move money. Those stay with you and your client.

How do I disconnect Claude?

In Piku, open Settings, then Agents, and choose Revoke. Access ends at once. Drafts Claude made stay in Deals until you send or delete them.
